Installation

  • Installation and configuration automatic for user via CD/DVD
    • option to run the free60 as a live CD (e.g. based on Knoppix)

User Interface

  • A user interface similar to MythTV (http://www.mythtv.org)
  • A typing interface not requiring a keyboard -- something like dasher (http://www.inference.phy.cam.ac.uk/dasher/)

Extensibility and maintenance

  • A plug-in feature to enable extensions to be written
  • standard distribution (fedora/debian etc)
  • dedicated over the internet updates (automatic or user prompted)

Wish List

  • Able to act as a home intranet server
  • XNU kernel ported (Darwin)

Other intended use

  • According to the Xenon CPU specs, the Xbox 360 could run as a really nice and powerful cluster node. This would require really different specs. A good distro to look at would be Y-HPC (http://www.terrasoftsolutions.com/products/y-hpc/)
